Importance of Intelligence Requirements to Indicators
Principally, intelligence requirements help outline priorities and provide a rationale
for any intelligence activities to be executed. Therefore, it affects indicators and the ensuing
data collection plan to drive the process. The relationship between indicators and intelligence
requirements is that the former provides information on the various means by which the
intelligence requirements can be met and adequately satisfied, and the type of outcome and
coverage expected and required (Dunleigh, 1994). Indicators also help assign a probability to
various events, helping to outline which intelligence requirements should be addressed first.
As such, both indicators and intelligence requirements work to support effective decisionmaking in terms of events' execution and planning.
Importance to Collection Plans
Intelligence requirements add detailed information that fosters creating a collection
plan that provides adequate guidance to analysts on the best action course (Bundy, 1995).
