Economic inequality can be described as the unequal distribution of not only
opportunities but also resources and incomes among various groups within the society (Payne,
Brown-Iannuzzi, & Hannay, 2017). Economic inequality is a significant concern for many
people around the world, and it results in poverty among many individuals. The majority of the
people who live in regions where there is an unequal distribution of resources and opportunities
have little chances of climbing up the ladder and salvage themselves from poverty. Nevertheless,
being born in a society of inequality does not mean that the individual will remain weak.
Economic inequality can be reduced by improving the education levels, enhancing training
policies, providing social assistance programs, among others (Thorbecke & Charumilind, 2002).
Many countries throughout the world are exploring whether a universal basic income could be
the solution to economic inequality (Payne et al., 2017).
The topic of economic inequality is very crucial in discussing global economic growth.
Economic inequalities bring about so many disparities in the everyday lives of the people. For
example, homeless people may live in tents along with the cities while the rich live in fancy
