Grab some popcorn and watch a movie!
Select a movie of your choice about some kind of an outbreak. This can include a movie about viruses, zombies, aliens, or anything that meets the criteria for an outbreak.
Feel free to be creative with your movie selection as long as it relates to public health and you can adequately cover the assignment requirements below.
For this course’s signature assignment:
- Provide a summary of the selected movie and why it relates to public health
- Determine if the public health outbreak stems from a chronic, pandemic, endemic, or epidemic issue
- List the agencies involved with the outbreak and determine if there were other agencies that should have been involved (but were not) and why
- Explain if there is any health data associated with the outbreak
- If no data are mentioned in the movie, determine what would you include if this happened in real life
- Detail how the outbreak could be prevented in the future

Medical health becomes a public health issue when people do not access medical health.
Studies have shown that the United States is at the forefront in terms of technology and research.
However, death rates in the country are still high (Fineberg, 2012). The United States has not
offered universal health insurance and statistics show that more than 27 million people are
uninsured. This contributes to 8.5% of the total population. This implies that these people can
have difficulty in terms of accessing health care and this becomes a public health concern.
In America, a small percentage cannot access healthcare because of insurance issues and
especially when they financially able to pay for the services they receive at the facilities.
