An argument exists on the morality or immorality of capital punishment. Capital
punishment involves an inherent dilemma. What should be done with a murderer or an
individual who commits a crime so bad they deserve to die? Is there a situation whereby the
punishment of death is useful for the society and the victim of a crime? From the ethical
theory viewpoints, egoism posits that individuals are motivated to act on their self-interest.
Ethical altruism holds that an actions morality is based on the consequences of that action and
how they are favorable to everybody except the agent. According to utilitarianism, the
usefulness of an action determines the morality. Kantianism, on the other hand, holds that the
world is experienced via senses. Reality, on the other hand, is based on priori forms and
categories (MacKinnon, & Fiala, 2014).
Capital punishment is regarded in a variety of ways from the egoism point of view.
Egoism holds that individual conduct is propelled by motivation, the primary one being selfinterest (MacKinnon, & Fiala, 2014). The criminal does so under the motivation of selfinterest, regardless of whether it merits the death penalty. Society, according to egoism, must
deal with the crimes that deserve this form of punishment using any means possible. The
