Description
1) Do a quick survey of at least 20 people. Ask them something that interests you, but that there are no more than 15 possible answers or so. For example:
How many hours of sleep did you get last night?
Hours of sleep | |||||||
Number of people |
Report your data in a frequency table like this one.
2) Create a probability distribution from your frequency table. For the example, for the random variable X = the number of hours a person slept last night, the probability distribution would be:
X | |||||||
P(x) |
3) Find the mean and standard deviation for X. Show work or state the technology that you used.
4) Interpret the mean.
5) Find the usual values of X by calculating the two standard deviation interval. State which values of X are “unusual” and which are “usual”.
6) State one thing that you learned your topic. It can be something that you were surprised about.
