Agoraphobia
Based on the symptoms that Mrs. Weidre presents, the differential diagnosis is panic
disorder. This is because she has symptoms like shortness of breath, dizziness and fear of dying.
The actual diagnosis for Mrs. Weidre is agoraphobia. This diagnosis is based on symptoms she
has such as fear of leaving her house where she only leaves the house on Tuesdays and Saturdays
when her husband is home to walk her. Her symptoms were triggered by her mother’s death.
Possible treatments are systematic desensitization where she is exposed to feared situations to get
rid of the fear and behavior therapy which is helpful in modifying her behavior (Mitsopoulou,
Kasvikis, Koumantanou, Giaglis, Skapinakis, & Mavreas, 2020).

Anxiety Disorder
Mrs. Resnick’s differential diagnosis is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) because
she is always on the guard for danger, has trouble falling asleep, and is unable to concentrate
fully at work. The actual diagnosis is anxiety disorder because she has a rapid heartbeat, chest
pains, poor concentration at work and at home, fear that something bad will happen to her
family, shortness of breath, and is unable to relax during the session. The treatment modalities
for Mrs. Resnick are prescription of anxiolytics to keep her calm. Psychotherapy would be useful

in analyzing unconscious and interpersonal conflicts and also provide supportive measures
(Robichaud, Koerner, & Dugas, 2019). She ought to be taught how to monitor anxiety and use
relaxation techniques to calm down.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder
The differential diagnosis for Sascha is avoidant personality disorder. She avoids
interpersonal contact and feels social discomfort. She says that she is willing to wait until she has
corrected her ear deformity in order to have relationships. The actual diagnosis of the patient is
body dysmorphic disorder because she has trouble accepting that her right ear is actually normal.
She feels that it is huge, deformed and ugly. She feels that people are always staring at her and
making pitiful faces and whispers about her ear. Treatment for body dysmorphic disorder is
behavior therapy in which patient would be encouraged to look at her ear in a non-judgmental
way (Veale, Gledhill, Christodoulou, & Hodsoll, 2016...
