Business Impacts from the Cloud
Your organization's CIO recently read the Harvard Business Review article How Cloud Computing Is Changing Management (Links to an external site.) by Quentin Hardy. The CIO asked you to review the article and prepare a report answering these questions:
- What characteristics of cloud computing, and its service and delivery models, are driving the organizational change discussed in the article?
- What characteristics of cloud computing, and its service and delivery models, are impacting product designs and customer experiences?
- Why does cloud-based computing require increased organizational innovation, highly trained human capital, and updated social institutions such as infrastructure and regulations to optimize its effectiveness?
- Why should our company concern itself with transitioning to "cloud native" software approaches?
Paper requirements:

How Cloud Computing Is Revolutionizing Management
Introduction
Entailed in this work is a discussion of the features of cloud computing and how the
delivery models and services of cloud computing are driving organizational change and
impacting customer experiences and product design. This work also discusses why cloud-based
computing necessitates organizational innovation, competent human capital, and up-to-date
social institutions and explains why shifting to cloud-native software approaches is optimal.
Organizational Change
As highlighted by Quentin Hardy in his article titled How Cloud Computing is Changing
Management, cloud computing has numerous characteristics that drive organizational change.
For starters, cloud computing facilitates the rapid exchange of information, with properties such
as virtualization, automated security patching, and scaling down or scaling up to handle more
workload (Hardy, 2018). Secondly, cloud computing allows organizations to change how
products are designed, encourages more customer interaction (including involving customers in
the product design process), and enables closer cooperation between organizations’ IT
departments and other business areas such as finance, finance and forecasting, and sales (Hardy,
2018). Third, cloud computing presents innovative ways of “writing and deploying” software,
allowing organizations to create designs faster. Fourth, public cloud computing is an inexpensive
and highly effective way for organizations to “store and process data” (Hardy, 2018). In
contemporary society, many companies provide public cloud computing, including Google
Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure. Many organizations avail the services of
these companies because of their lower costs, making it easier for these organizations to store
and process data on the internet and increase productivity and resources.
