In this assignment, you will consider three of the main theories of normative ethics: utilitarianism, deontology, and virtue ethics. Philosophers are primarily interested in normative ethics, which is the concept of what people "should" do. In this assignment, you will consider three of the main theories of normative ethics: utilitarianism, deontology, and virtue ethics.
- Utilitarianism states that actions are right if they benefit a majority.
- Deontology emphasizes ethical duty.
- Virtue emphasizes character excellence.

For this assignment, you will complete a Morality Comparison Chart Template [DOCX](attached related to morality. Fill in the areas on the template according to how they are described below.
- Describe the theory: Provide a description using your own words for each of the three theories (Utilitarianism, Deontology, and Virtue Ethics: Write 1-2 sentences per theory).
- Identify the prominent philosophers who accepted this theory: Provide the names of two to three philosophers who accepted each theory.
- List 1–2 objections to this theory: Summarize in one paragraph one to two reasons why someone might be against each of the theories.
- Identify one response to an objection: Defend each theory from the point of view of someone who subscribes to it. Write at least a paragraph for each.
- Explain whether this theory is consequentialist or nonconsequentialist, and why: Summarize in one paragraph if the theory is consequentialist or nonconsequentialist, and why.
