SkillsFuture is a national movement aimed to help the citizens master skills throughout their careers and develop a culture of lifelong learning. According to Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, then Deputy Prime Minister, SkillsFuture is quite simply Singapore's 'most important economic and social strategy in the long term. On the economic front, Singapore is only as competitive as the skills it has'. He added that there must be 'a continuous deepening of skills and picking up of new ones throughout a worker's career. On the social side, Singapore is trying to create a meritocracy of skills, rather than grades earned early in life, as a new form of social mobility' (Lim, 2019). In view of the Skills Future Movement, your company would like to encourage more staff to take on this lifelong learning initiative. The Manager of the Staff Development Department, Mr John Lam, would like you to conduct a survey to find out the following: What is the take up rate of part-time study among the staff in the company? What are some of the reasons for staff not participating in this? What are some courses that staff would be keen to take on? What can the company do to encourage/support staff's learning? As part of your report, you are expected to carry out both primary and secondary research. You may use the articles provided or search for others. Research involving primary data will require you to conduct a survey as part of the information gathering process. Your report should include an analysis of the problem based on information and data that you have gathered. You will need to draw conclusions from your findings and give recommendations to address the conclusions. An executive summary should also be given at the beginning of the report.
