C F C The Wayne State University, Mike Ilitch School of Business Career Fair will provide an opportunity for you to meet and network with a large volume of employers. It also allows potential employers to meet and screen a large volume of candidates. Contact a Career Advisor in the Career Planning and Placement Of ice (CPP) with any questions or concerns. Here are some tips to help you prepare for the event: B F : Know which companies are a ending the Fair and what posi ons they are recrui ng for using D Hand‐ shake. R : Get your resume reviewed by the Career Planning and Placement Office and bring mul ple copies to the event. D C : Dress for Success! Wear business professional a re for the event. Visit the CPP Office to gain access to the Dress Closet should you require any assistance. E R : Through Handshake and company websites, do enough research to gain an understanding of why you want to work for that organiza on long‐term. Why? Because they will ask! Develop tangible ques ons for the recruiters as well. P /I : When introducing yourself to recruiters, include your name, class year, major(s), interest areas or experiences relevant to the employer as well as addi onal ques ons to keep the conversa on moving. D F G P !: Put together your priority list of poten al employers you want to visit. Research any poten al job openings through Handshake and the company website ahead of me. Make your rounds throughout the fair and speak with some employers not on your list as a warm up before visi ng your priority employers. F I : Approach with a smile, firm handshake, and maintain eye contact. “C P L :” Don’t wait in line for extended periods of me for a single employer. Take advantage of smaller lines to ensure you have ample me to discuss your career aspira ons with a variety of employers. C I : Ask for a business card or email address in case you have any “further ques ons” a er the Fair. A F G : Send formal, tailored emails within 24 hours a er the Fair to thank recruiters for their me. Reference something in the conversa on about the posi on or organiza on as well to reiterate your interest. E F D : Know what each organiza on expects from you and be aware of any pending applica on deadlines.
