I select Larkin Community Hospital (LCH) as the organization of interest. LCH is a forprofit hospital that was established 22 years ago. The company has expanded tremendously in
the past few years to include a 146-bed South Miami Campus, a 247-bed Palm Springs Campus,
and a medical school (Larkin Community Hospital, 2020). It is currently among the leading
hospitals in Miami, Florida. The company offers a wide range of services. Other than operating a
medical school, it also offers 24-hour emergency services, acute care, surgery, in-patient
behavioral health, laboratory services, imaging, social work, nutritional therapy, gynecology,
rehabilitation, partial hospitalization services, and cancer treatment (Larkin Community Hospital,
2020). All these services are offered on in-patient and out-patient basis in South Miami and Palm
Springs campuses.
LCH could benefit immensely from the utilization of cloud services to perform enterprise
resource planning (ERP). Cloud-based ERP involves performing ERP on a cloud vendors’
platform rather than on-premise. In other words, cloud-based ERP involves the use of softwareas-a-service (SaaS) to aggregate, process, and organize data and services from different
departments of an organization, including accounting, human resources, operations management,
inventory management, and customer relations management, among others (Mahmood, 2015). In
this regard, LCH will first need to create extensive network infrastructures across all its facilities.
