We are given 1/11 girls and 1/7 boys.

lets say a is girls and

b are boys .

Then we have 11a+7b =158

or 7b = (158-11a)

b = (158-11a)/7 = (158-4a)/7-a

When a=8, (158-32) =126

Hence a=8 , b = (158-32)/7-a =18-8=10

Thus we have 11a =11*8 = 88 girls and 7b =7*10 =70boys

Answer: 88 girls and 70 boys
