Question 1: Discuss how the news audience has changed from the 1970s until now. Do you
feel that Americans can still find unbiased news anywhere today? Why or why not?
In the 1970’s, it is notable that there were fewer channels of passing news from the media
to the public. The most common were television as well as the radio which could be accessed by
the people that were well off. This meant that you had to have either of the two tools for you to
be able to have access to the news. Times have changes however and so has the news as it can be
accessed through many different methods and the internet has become a major player in laying
out news. It is also notable that people can today get news from their smart phones and this
makes the news to have a larger audience (Ladd, 2011).
Today, Americans cannot get unbiased news from just any place. On one hand, it is
notable that there are many media outlets that currently give biased news. On the other hand,
there are news sources that give news that is free of bias. Anybody could also be giving news
that is biased through the social media and this makes it necessary to differentiate between the
