A Time to kill is an American courtroom crime drama released in 1996 and is based on
John Grisham's novel of the same title. The film revolves around the chronicles of a ten-year-old
girl's rape. Two white men committed the crime against the young girl of the African-American
origin. The rapists were arrested and a suit filed against them. However, the two are murdered by
the girl's father in the courtroom as they head to a hearing. A deputy is disabled in the process.
The move heightens racial hatred in the town and posits a potential conflict regardless of the
verdict. A local white non-experienced, young Mississippi based lawyer agrees to defend the
girl's father. Sandra Bullock, Samuel Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, and Kevin Spacey are
the star characters (Warner Bros, 2014). On the other hand, Ashley Judd, Kiefer Sutherland, and
Patrick McGoohan appeared in supporting roles.
