Introduction
Every organization is prone to experiencing some changes regardless of its size, industry,
or even geography. Therefore, any organization's structure should be designed so that it will
adapt to any change that can effectively affect its operations. Business leaders who are in a
position to effectively respond to a business change that might come for both external and
internal sources are said to have an adaptable leadership style (Bratton, 2020). These leaders are
willing to try out new things since they are open to potential risks that might accompany the
changes. However, changes are essential within any business environment since they allow
employees to learn new and advanced skills, explore better opportunities, and exercise their
creativity in various ways that will benefit the organization via new ideas and increased
commitment.
Based on what I have learned, my current leadership skills include active listening,
creativity, and the ability to inspire and convince others. I pay attention to anything said to me by
any member of the organization without discrimination to allow everyone to express themselves.
That will include withholding judgment, reflecting, and clarifying what other people say to me.
On top of that, I have the ability to think about a task or any problem in a new and different way.
My creativity can enable me to solve several complex problems and find interesting ways in
which I can approach tasks (Kavanagh & Ashkanasy, 2018). I can inspire people to do some
work and convince the benefit of completing a given task to them and the organization.
However, my primary style of leadership is Democratic. I use democratic decision making to
encourage group discussion since I believe in decision making through consensus. As a
democratic leader, I still make the final decision, but I do so only after I have carefully

considered what other group members still make to say. Usually, my decision goes with the
majority (Bratton, 2020). My leadership style's importance is that it makes my members feel
included, and it helps in promoting teamwork and creativity.
There is no magic combination of characteristics that can make a leader successful in
his/her leadership roles (Kavanagh & Ashkanasy, 2018). Therefore, different traits are essential
in different situations. Understanding varying leadership approaches can help me as a leader to
use the right approach for any situation that comes around...
