Braxton Bragg, a United States Army officer, and a husband was born on 22nd March 1817 in
Warrenton North Carolina. (Davis 1970). He died on 27th September 1876 at the age of 59 and
buried in Galveston Texas. During his early life, Bragg educated at West Point at the US Military
Academy. Once he completed his education, he became an artillery officer who served in
Florida. Braxton received three brevet promotions for his quality and distinguished service and
work in the Mexican- American war and specifically the Battle of Buena Vista, (Davis 1970). He
was known for his willingness to publicly criticize his superior officers even those who held the
highest ranks in the army. For that reason, he established his position as a junior officer with
strict discipline. In the year 1856, he retired from the military. He had served many posts in the
Indian region. Once he retired, he settled in Louisiana where he owned a sugar plantation.
Braxton is exceptionally known as the Confederate officer who led the US army during the Civil
war (1861 to 1865) and for winning multiple battles, (Hay 1924). He is also known as a strict
disciplinarian who criticized his subordinates and for that reason, many attempts were made to
