A// The conflict caused in the Suez Canal dates back to the search for oil by the
British and French alliance in 1869, creating the Suez Canal company. In 1956, the
crisis broke out in the Suez Canal, this time with the tri-alliance with Israel. This
responded to common interests: economic, commercial, and political. All this happens
in the middle of the cold war. In other words, the conflict occurs because of the
intentions to nationalize the Suez Canal. However subsequent nationalization through
an agreement signed in Paris and unleashing France, Great Britain, and Israel against
Egypt.

2. What measures did groups such as the United Nations establish to
prevent genocide following World War II? Were these measures successful in
responding to ethnic cleansing and genocide in the 20th and 21st centuries?

A: The United Nations realized that the measures taken after the Second World War
to prevent genocides were not sufficient, precise, or specific; this is how the
Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide emerged in
December 1948. At the beginning of the '90s, it was applied for the first time during
the judicial processes initiated after the conflicts in Rwanda and the Balkans. The

united nations affirm that genocide is a process that evolves over time. In the Central
African Republic, Iraq, and the Syrian Arab Republic, there have been genocides for
religious beliefs, and the United Nations...
