Language differences can disharmonize the learning environment especially in a
classroom setup where students are a mixture of international students and local ones. This can
be demonstrated where English as Second language students, ESLs, find it hard to interact with
English as a First Language students, ESFs. The mode of teaching might be entirely different
from their mother countries and hence making adapting even more challenging. Students
previously unused to a high level of participation in class might prefer to be silent in class for
fear of their accents coming in the way of how they express themselves and hence losing face in
front of other students due to the influence of local dialects in their accents.
Teaching a classroom which comprises of some children with language limitations can be
a daunting task, one that requires vast patience and cooperation.
