The Thin Blue Line
The Thin Blue Line is a 1988 documentary about the wrongful conviction of Randall Adams for
the murder of Robert Wood in Dallas, Texas. Errol Morris's one of a kind documentary dramatically reenacts the crime scene and investigation of a police officer's murder in Dallas, Texas. In 1977, Adams
was a drifter who ran out of gas and was picked up by a 16-year-old runaway by the name of David
Harris. Later that night, they drank and went to the movies. From there they told very different stories.
Adams said that he left for his motel, where he was staying with his brother, and went to sleep. Harris,
however, said that they were stopped by police later that night, and Adams suddenly shot the officer
who walked up to their car.
The documentary makes the audience aware of all the circumstantial evidence gathered by the
police, who were under pressure to solve the case. The evidence was not very strong and it made it
seem like Harris was more responsible because as it turns out he was a criminal carrying out a variety
