f(x)=2.5x^3-2x^2 4x, from [1.8, 6.2]

Oct 4th, 2014

f(x)=2.5x^3-2x^2+4x from [1.8, 6.2]

For x = 1.8 , then

f(1.8) = 2.5(1.8)^3 - 2(1.8)^2 + 4(1.8)

       = 2.5 * (5.832) - 2 * 3.24 + 7.2

       = 14.58 - 6.48 + 7.2

       = 15.3

Now for x = 6.2  , then

f(6.2) = 2.5(6.2)^3 - 2(6.2)^2 + 4(6.2)

       = 2.5 * 238.328 - 2 * 38.44 + 24.8

       = 595.82 - 76.88 + 24.8

       = 543.74

Now average is    [ f(1.8) + f(6.2) ] / 2

                         =  (15.3 + 543.74)/2

                         = 559.04 / 2

                         = 279.52
