PSY 2317 University of Houston Regression Equation of the Regression Model Questions
Goal Setting and GPACetin (2015) was interested in individual differences in goal setting behavior and performance in college students. To investigate the hypothesized association between the two variables, Cetin collected goal setting and grade point average (GPA) data from 166 college students. Goal setting was measured with a subscale from the Academic Self-Regulated Learning Scale. Students' GPA was measured via self-report. The goal_setting_gpa.csv data set simulates some of the data so that it corresponds to the results in the original study. We can use it to (a) the null hypothesis that there is no association between self-reported goal setting behavior and self-reported academic performance, and (b) construct a regression equation for predicting GPA from goal setting behavior.Cetin, B. (2015). Academic motivation and self-regulated learning in predicting academic achievement in college. Journal of International Education Research, 11(2), 95-106.(1) Download goal_setting_gpa.csv and open it in Jamovi.(2) Make sure the measure type and data type of the variables are correct.(3) From the Regression menu select Correlation Matrix. (4) In the Analysis panel, move gpa into the Variables box first and then goal_setting. We do it in this order because gpa is the variable we want to predict, which means that on a scatterplot, it should appear on the Y axis.(5) From the Correlation Coefficients menu select Pearson.(6) From the Hypothesis menu select Correlated. This specifies the alternative hypothesis, that the two varoables are correlated.(7) From the Additional Options menu select Report significance and N.(8) From the Plot menu select Correlation Matrix.(9) While still in the Analysis panel, from the Regression menu at the top, select Linear Regression.(10) Move gpa to the Dependent Variable box and move goal-setting to the Covariates box.(11) From the Model Fit menu select R, R2, and RMSE (which is the same thing as standard error of estimate).(12) Save the Jamovi file as Ch14_YourLastName.omv and use it to answer the questions on the worksheet.Instructions for submitting this assignment.(1) Locate Ch14_YourLastName.omv, and Ch14 Homework.docx where you saved them on your computer.(2) Click the title of this assignment (Ch14 Homework) to open the Upload Assignment page.(3) In the ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION section, attach Ch14_YourLastName.omv and the Ch14 Homework file. Click Submit.(4) If you submit this assignment early enough, I might have time to provide feedback that you can use to improve it and possibly improve your grade. So soon after you submit it, return to this assignment to see if I've given you any feedback. Cars Analysis
An expert who works for a car magazine obtained random data (rounded
to the nearest thousand) among two categories of used or new cars:
Domestic Foreign
The expert would like to understand sales based on list price
(rounded to the nearest thousand dollars), sale price (rounded to the
nearest thousand dollars), and number of days it takes to sell each car.
The complete data set is in the file named Cars.Managerial ReportPrepare a report (see below) that summarizes your assessment of the nature of the car market. Be sure to include the following seven items in your report.Descriptive statistics (mean, median, range, standard deviation,
and coefficient of variation) to summarize each of the three variables
for the all Domestic cars. Use z-scores to determine if there any
outliers in the data set for any of the three variables. If there are
any outliers in any category, please list them and state for which
category they are an outlier. If a result is an outlier, state whether
it is below or above the mean.Descriptive statistics (mean, median, range, standard deviation, and
coefficient of variation) to summarize each of the three variables for
the all Foreign cars. Use z-scores to determine if there any outliers in
the data set for any of the three variables. If there are any outliers
in any category, please list them and state for which category they are
an outlier. If a result is an outlier, state whether it is below or
above the mean.Compare your summary results from #1 and #2. Discuss any specific
statistical results that would help the car expert understand the car
market.Develop a 98% confidence interval estimate of the population mean
sales price and population mean number of days to sell for Domestic
cars. What is the Margin of error? What are the lower (or left) and
upper (or right) endpoints of the confidence interval? Interpret your
results.Develop a 98% confidence interval estimate of the population mean
sales price and population mean number of days to sell for Foreign cars.
What is the Margin of error? What are the lower (or left) and upper (or
right) endpoints of the confidence interval? Interpret your results.Assume the car expert requested estimates of the mean number of days
to sell for the Domestic cars with a margin of error of seven days and
the mean number of days of Foreign cars with a margin of error of eight
days. Using 98% confidence, how large should the sample sizes be for
each?Suppose a Domestic car has a list price of $30,000 and a Foreign car
has a list price of $30,000. What is your estimate of the final selling
price (based on the percent difference for the sale and list price) and
number of days required to sell each of these cars?Write a report that adheres to the Written Assignment
Requirements under the heading “Expectations for CSU-Global Written
Assignments” found in the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.
As with all written assignments at CSU-Global, you should have in-text
citations and a reference page. An example paper is provided in the MTH410 Guide to Writing with Statistics. (link provided at the bottom of the page)Submit your Excel file in addition to your report. Requirements:Paper must be written in third person.Your paper should be four to five pages in length (counting the
title page and references page) and cite and integrate at least one
credible outside source. The CSU-Global Library is a great place to find resources.Include a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and a reference page. The introduction should describe or summarize the topic or problem.
It might discuss the importance of the topic or how it affects you or
society as a whole, or it might discuss or describe the unique
terminology associated with the topic. The body of your paper should answer the questions posed in the
problem. Explain how you approached and answered the question or solved
the problem, and, for each question, show all steps involved. Be sure
this is in paragraph format, not numbered answers like a homework
assignment. The conclusion should summarize your thoughts about what you have
determined from the data and your analysis, often with a broader
personal or societal perspective in mind. Nothing new should be
introduced in the conclusion that was not previously discussed in the
body paragraphs.Include any tables of data or calculations, calculated values,
and/or graphs associated with this problem in the body of your
assignment.Document formatting, citations, and style should conform to the CSU-Global Virtual Library CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA: Introduction. A short summary containing much that you need to know about paper formatting, citations, and references is contained in the New Sample APA Paper. In addition, information in the CSU-Global Virtual Library under the Writing Center/APA Resources tab has many helpful areas (Writing Center, Writing Tips, Template & Examples/Papers & Essays, and others).

Staffing Process Discussion
Among the tools (e.g., graphics tools, knowledge-based tools, etc.) that the author discussed in the textbook, determine the type of tool that you would use for process improvement framework. Next, determine the type of tool you would use for problem solving framework. Justify your response.
Use the Internet or Strayer Library to research articles on process improvement and problem solving tools. Select one (1) business project that used one of the tools discussed in the textbook. Evaluate level of the efficiency and effectiveness of the utilization of the tool within the project that you selected. Justify your response.

CALCULUS EXAMPLE PROBLEMS
• A lake is stocked with 1000 fish. It is found that N(t), the number of fish after t years, increases so that its rate of increase is governed by the equation: dN/dt = k N (10,000 - N) (called the "Logistic Equation"). Show that the rate of change, dN/dt , is a maximum when the population is 5,000 fish.
