Overview of the case study
The major goal of cultural psychology is to enhance the number of cultures in order to
make relevant predictions. The theory focuses on how aspects of culture such as values, beliefs,
and skills are transferred from one generation to the next. This case study examines the relation of
infant health risk factors and acculturation of pacific island mothers living in New Zealand. The
study was conducted on 1398 infants of the Auckland. An instrument named as General Ethnicity
questionnaire was used to collect data on maternal and infant health risk indicators (Jim, Williams,
2011). The study examined that how psychological tendencies are rooted within the culture. The
results demonstrated that the people who are strongly aligned with the Pacific culture have better
maternal and infant health risk indicators than the people who are weekly aligned with the Pacific
culture. The case study concluded that those individuals who retain strong cultural links are likely
