its a vertical angle and on the top it says 132 degrees and below it says 4n. I have to write an equation and solve for the variable and I am so confused. please explain this to me. (geometry)

The triangle is probably isosceles ( two sides equal) and are marked equal as well.

This means that the two angles you don't know are the same size.

so both are 4n

Now the three angles of any triangles add up to 180 degrees

Hence the equation we want is 4n + 4n + 132 = 180

We now solve this:                     8n +132 = 180  (because 4n + 4n = 8n)

                                                   8n          = 180 - 132

                                                   8n          = 48

                                 So              4n           = 24          (half of each side)

But the missing angles were called 4n

so the missing angles are both 24 degrees  ( check: 132+ 24 +24 =180)
