disadvantaged groups are racial minorities. As stipulated by Troyna (2014), ethnic and racial
disparities in education are prevalent and manifest in educational outcomes such as graduation
rates, performance, and behavioral referral. In many societies, one purpose of education is to
eliminate social disparities brought about by disparities. However, others consider it an approach
to maintain the status quo. Because of the divergent perceptions about the education system, there
