Competency-based approach is based on the company’s primary goal of defining the critical
behaviors that are needed in order to ensure effectiveness and superior organizational performance.
These competence-based behaviors are observable, measurable, and attainable which means that they
are easily imitated. The competencies often depict an underlying intent, which is driven by the basic
motivation of the person, their values and attitudes. This means that individual competencies can be
shaped such that it is in line with the Saudi Telecom Company vision and mission. This can be through
formalization of how things are done and setting Saudi Telecom Company culture that foster specific
behavior and the acquisition of the competencies.
