Could some one explain this to me?
Both of the two words have the same meaning. However, the grammatical nuances of how they are used differ slightly.
"We could go out drinking or bowling. Sherri, which would you prefer"?
"Sherri, would you rather go out drinking or go bowling"?
Both sentences convey the same meaning but are structured in different ways.
