contemporary societal issues that has had adverse effects on members of the society in various
institutions such as in schools, and at workplace et al. It is in this regard that bullying is the
chosen topic for this assignment. In discussing this topic, effects of bullying on individual
persons and on the society are reviewed.
Vanderbilt & Augustyn (p. 316) defines bullying as an aggressive behavior towards an
individual by another individual or a group of individual that is considered to be superior as
compared to the party being bullied. Often, bullying has been attributed to physical abuse. It is,
noteworthy, that there are other forms of bullying. For instance, at workplace bullying often
occurs in form threats of getting fired and also talking about someone in a way that affects them
negatively psychologically. Discrimination on basis of personal attributes and sexual harassment
are also other common forms of bullying at workplace as well as in other institutions such as
learning institutions. Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that has adverse effects on the victims
