When multiplying decimals, how do you determine where to place the decimal in the answer?

Answer:

  • When multiplying decimals We need to place the decimal exactly by counting how many of decimal digits from each number(element) after point must be added together (total numbers after point).
  • After finishing the multiplication  we have to put the decimal after counting the number from the right hand side to left hand side.
  • Example:           123.45  x  78.9123  =  9741.723435 (first number 2  +  second number 4 =  6)
                                 145.27  x  328.439   =  47712.33353 (first number 2  +  second number 3 =  5)
