A product orientation is a basic concept learned in chapter 1. The concept is the first
stage in the evolution of marketing. Product orientation gained prominence in the mid-19th
century. As technology was growing in the production industry, it was the speed of production
and efficiency. These factors had a huge impact on the number of products available in the
market. Firms were producing a large number of goods. To survive in the market, an
organization had to market its product to its target market segment properly. From the example,
Henry Ford uses product orientation to increase the sales of his company’s sales. Ford used
