Compare and contrast what you believe these two individuals (the insecure LGBTQ youth
and the intolerant adult) viewing this message would be.
People in the United States have different views concerning the issue of sexual and gender
orientation. Usually, LGBTQ individuals face a lot of discrimination by society and in different
institutions, including academic and social institutions such as churches and workplaces. The
LGBTQ also experiences various types of harassment, including bullying, rejection, and
stigmatization, to the extent of contemplating suicide. The ‘It gets the better message by John
Burn on the LBGTQ issue has different impacts and experiences on different categories of people,
including insecure LGBTQ youth and intolerant adults. To the insecure LGBT, the message has
a positive implication, while it impacts negatively on intolerant adults (Kanetake, 2010).
