Healthcare is one of the most significant sectors in any country. It plays a unique and
important role in the economy as it determines the health of the population. One of the
government agenda is to facilitate the delivery of quality, safe, and affordable health care to its
people. According to Bari, Khan, & Rathore (2016), the US government has been on the
frontline as it attempts to develop appropriate care models that will serve the healthcare needs of
its population effectively. The US has enforced different healthcare policies intending to
improve health access for the less privileged groups of people. The implementation of the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) culminated in the efforts of a consistent attempt to improve the
quality and accessibility of health services in the country. ACA improved the accessibility of
health services, particularly among the elderly, children, people with disabilities, and those living
below the poverty line. Recently, there are different healthcare models that use the combination
of different resources, including drugs, human resources, and drugs, to ensure that patients
receive quality and affordable health services.
