Q1. Institute of medicine was approached by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF),
prompting the formation of the RWJF initiative. The main reason why the IOM was approached
was to prepare a report highlighting the challenges and bottlenecks faced by the nursing system

challenges faced. For the achievement of the goal, the committee was involved in convening five
meetings and a further three public forums. This was initiated to facilitate the process of

bottlenecks facing the nursing profession. After the process was complete, the committee derives
various factors that faced the nursing practice and, consequently, recommended significant
changes that were to be initiated to develop and create an efficient and effective healthcare
