It takes 140 kJ of work to accelerate a car from 23.5 m/s to 30.0 m/s. What is the car's mass?

Oct 16th, 2014

140 kj =140000 newton-metre

acceleration = 30 -23.5 = 6.5 m/s^2

Applying Newton's second law of motion

F =mass x acceleration

140000 = mass x 6.5

mass= 140000/6.5 = 21538 kg

Mass of car = 21538 kg
