Description
The readings this week expand on investigation and of digital forensic analysis and investigations. Organizations, especially those in the public, health and educational areas are bound by legal and statutory requirements to protect data and private information, therefore digital forensics analysis will be very beneficial when security breaches do occur. Using this weeks readings and your own research, discuss digital forensics and how it could be used in a risk management program.
Please make your initial post and two response posts substantive. A substantive post will do at least TWO of the following:
- Ask an interesting, thoughtful question pertaining to the topic
- Answer a question (in detail) posted by another student or the instructor
- Provide extensive additional information on the topic
- Explain, define, or analyze the topic in detail
- Share an applicable personal experience
- Provide an outside source (for example, an article from the UC Library) that applies to the topic, along with additional information about the topic or the source (please cite properly in APA 7)
- Make an argument concerning the topic.
At least one scholarly source should be used in the initial discussion thread. Be sure to use information from your readings and other sources from the UC Library. Use proper citations and references in your post.

Digital Forensics Analysis
Digital forensic is defined as the process of identifying, preserving, documentation, and
extracting computer-based evidence, which is used by the court of law (Sahinoglu et al., 2016).
Therefore, the concept is based on an evaluation of evidence from digital media. On the other
hand, risk management involves gathering data, analyzing it, and detecting vulnerabilities that
lead to creating policies that prevent, investigate, and detect misconduct. The need for digital
forensic is attributed to the increase in the transformation of most organizations toward digital
operation and the need to tackle both internal and external threats on confidential information
(Montasari & Hill, 2019). Digital forensic fits in the risk management program due to its eight
crucial aspects, which create an algorithm to calculate risk indices. Therefore, the integration of
digital forensic in risk management will increase the effectiveness of the risk management
policies since it allows a company to have a better view of vulnerabilities and evidence that can
be used on legal ground in case a threat or risk occurs.
Through the use of a digital forensics risk meter, companies can investigate the risk and
mitigate it (Sahinoglu et al., 2016)....
