Description

This assignment is the follow up on your previous work. Please look at attachment below, for your previous job.

Part 2A (2%): At this point you will have researched your UN Sustainability goal and have read about at least one company (The Toyota Company) that is doing something to try and achieve that goal. Now you need to think about how you are going to help your case company start moving toward the goal. Based on your research what things can your case company do to move toward achieving the US Sustainability goal.

The deliverable for this section would be an outline of your final report. Provide an outline of the report that has brief descriptions of each section you will have for the final report. The purpose of this outline is to ensure that you are on track to have the project completed.

You want this to be as polished as possible. So include a title page, a table of contents, page numbers, and references. You can submit Part 2A below.

CLIMATE ACTION October 4, 2020 Dr. Karla Doreen MacAulay MAN 3025- Global Citizen Assignment Stage One Climate Action Part 1A Climate actions are the efforts that have got stepped up to strengthen adaptive and resilience and also reduce greenhouse gases emission (Tosun & Schoenefeld, 2016). Climate action has been on the rise over recent years due to increased climate change all over the globe, and hence it has become a global issue. Climate change has been evident due to increased intensity and the frequency of weather conditions such as droughts, heat waves, tropical cyclones, and floods. Every county in the entire world is being affected by the rampant climatic changes in one way or another. Recent studies have shown that many people have been rendered homeless due to the adverse effects of climate change. Statistics show that over 21.5 million people worldwide got displaced by weather or climate-related events such as floods (White, 2018). In the agricultural producing countries, climatic changes have severely affected the agricultural yields. Events such as drought have led to the increased food shortage since the plants are overwhelmed by the drought effects. Other incidences, such as floods, have also lead to adverse effects on the agricultural center since the floods sweep over large tracts of land. The floods lead to soil erosion, which renders the ground unfertile and lowers the lands' productivity. If the effects continue, it will reach a point that the world will experience low food security, and therefore the manufactured foods will be made a priority as there will be no other option. Countries all over the world should work hand in hand to reduce the instances of decreased food security. 1 Climate Action Limiting the climatic changes through climate actions requires high investment inputs to curb the menace. Reducing the incidences of global warming should be channeled towards low carbon and climate-resilient development. Many organizations have got set up so that the adverse effects of climate change may get countered. The developing countries, which are mainly African countries, can now access funds set aside to address the climate change problem. Part 1B The best example of a company that can get used as a benchmark in solving the climate change issue is Silicon Kingdom Holdings. The company has heavily invested in building over 1200 carbon-cleansing metals that get aimed at capturing Carbon dioxide in a cheaper way than the other methods. The technology developer said that the company is figuring out ways of getting a safer climate. The company has built on the idea of carbon capture as it has gained momentum recently in curbing climate change. The company has developed mechanical trees that get built so that they can absorb the CO2. The mechanical trees look like trees and get fitted by filter like components that absorb CO2. The mechanical trees use the wind that blows through them rather than the energyintensive mechanism. The company's captured carbon is then sold to the companies involved in carbon-related uses such as the extraction of oil, fuel creation, and the manufacturing of the fizzy drinks. Other companies involved in the carbon capture from the atmosphere should adopt the ideas from the silicon holdings companies or use the ideas in building on to their beliefs. The following goals in its operations drive the Silicon Holdings Company. Firstly, it is to establish a CO2 free atmosphere. Since the company mainly deals with carbon, they ought to accomplish the CO2 free atmosphere as one of their goals. The company is living to achieve the 2 Climate Action plan as they have stepped up in innovating the mechanical trees. Although the method may seem futile, it can be made viable through diversification and spreading it through most parts of the world. Countries should adopt the mechanisms as they will go a long way in solving the climate change menace. Their second goal has a global warming free world. Global warming has become the town's talk as the increase in the carbon levels in the atmosphere has been increasing significantly. The Silicon Holdings Company has come to the forefront in trying to address this issue, and thus they have adopted the mechanical trees in trying to solve the problem. The third goal is education. The company also engages the people by teaching them how they can implement towards dealing with climate change. It has forums that teach people about techniques and instilling knowledge. Their fourth goal is zero hunger in the world. The plan is adopted as the carbon emissions affect the industrial industry as the emissions lead to global warming (Zhang & Li, 2014). Part 1C The perfect example of a company that I would choose to improve on its operations towards reducing climate change is Toyota. The company is involved in the bulk manufacturing of vehicles. The vehicles are the most contributors to the carbon emissions that are being witnessed in the world. It is estimated that over 1.4 billion people worldwide possess vehicles, and this number is very alarming as the increase in cars leads to the rise in carbon emissions (Bockris, 2010). The company is not doing enough to address the issues as their main agenda is their increased profit margins. The company is over and over trying to combat climate change 3 Climate Action policies' efforts through their trade groups. Toyota has opposed the steps that are being put in place in trying to fight climate change, such as promoting the use of electric vehicles and improving the fuel economy. Toyota also claims that they are an organization that is working toward combatting climate change, but their trade groups representatives oppose the climate policies that have got imposed. The Toyota Company can adopt the measures set to curb the global climate change issue as it is very detrimental. Firstly, they can adopt the manufacture of electric vehicles as a way of reducing carbon emissions. Electric cars are very efficient and reliable as they do not directly pollute the environment. Secondly, Toyota can also play a part in promoting the fuel economy by reducing the rate at which their manufactured vehicles consume fuel. If the fuel economy in a car gets reduced, then there will be a decline in the cars' carbon emitted. In a nutshell, Toyota Company, a global leader in the manufacture of vehicles, should adopt the proposed measures and act as an excellent example to the rest of the companies in the vehicle manufacturing industry. It is through the above actions that we can take some steps towards curbing climate change. 4 Climate Action References Bockris, J. (2010). Global warming.
