A ball with mass 0.155 kg stays on ground and is struck by 2 players at same time 14N west and 22N south. Find the net force and acceleration

Oct 18th, 2014

Since directions of the forces are orthogonal, we use Pythagorean theorem to find net force.

It is F=root(14^2+22^2)=root(680) ~ 26.077 N

Acceleration can be found from Newton's second law. F=m*a, hence a=F/m

So a=26.077/0.155 ~ 168.237 m/s^2
