Description

This will be two-part project. The first part is I need an Outline and later on will be a separate assignment for the final paper which will be a separate submission. The Topic is HER Interoperability. All original work. When you post the file do not change the name leave the file name as it is. Please make sure you follow the directions below.  I will meet with my team on Wednesday and try to get more information for you what we are doing if anything different, send me as much as you have done around Wednesday so I have something to discuss with the team. I prefer the person who does the outline to do the final paper also at a later week.

Topic is: EHR Interoperability

6Conclusion

1After doing all the research and finding documented cases, what did your group learn? It’s ok if the answer isn’t definitive

2What do you envision to be the status of your group topic in the future? What are the greatest obstacles to your topic?

* Try to mix up the variety of the current/documented cases in your literature review. For example, let’s say you’re discussing how the expansion of Medicaid has impacted patients. Some states have seen the program flourish, while others have…not so much. Both can be equally valid points of view. You should be able to find 4 – 5 documented cases as part of your literature review for each discussion topic, and the impacts to each of the 3 Ps should have at least 1 accompanying documented case. Your outline should at least, provide an intended list of readings or articles to be used to support your final paper or presentation.

It is expected that the papers will be supported with literature search and/or interviews with experts in the field. These must be appropriately referenced per APA style, including in-text citations.

Abstract
In today’s world, Electronic healthcare data have become available for payers, providers and
patients, patient’s clinical history may be recorded and tracked by several electronic systems
which have been developed by independent vendors. EHR systems are tailored to serve medical
personnel, patients who may want to see their medical records or follow up results and payer
who want to make the necessary payments. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the EHR
interoperability in detail from its history to the main topics of interoperability today. In the paper,
we will also discuss the documented impacts of EHR interoperability and the future impacts and
innovations of interoperability.

Introduction
Electronic Health record (EHR) is a new and more efficient technology that integrate two or
more systems that provide data/information to each patient’s clinical record. The data that is
provided has the same meaning in every system. The EHR contains data and clinical information
from different medical sources such as medical labs and other providers, this therefore enables it
to send and receive standardized data from providers. The main functions of EHR is medication
reconciliation, immunizations, providing images and wellness biometrics, drug verification,
listing problems and allergies and electronic prescribing. Understanding EHR is key to
understanding EHR interoperability.
EHR interoperability is the capability to send and receive data. For example, a patient who
goes to an occupational health center for a musculoskeletal injury and does a follow up with a
local physician who refers him/her to an orthopedic, the EHR software record would contain
clinical information from the local physician. Interoperability has a meaningful use when the
EHR systems are properly structured and standardized, many electronic medical records capture
data in a structured manner and unless this EHR’s data/information is properly structured and
coded to meet the national standards, EHR’s interoperability would not be possible because data
cannot be sent to or received to anyone who needs it. The people who use this software to
interact and share information are employers, payors, patients, referral providers and other
people in the healthcare community.
The history of EHR’s interoperability dates back to the late 1960’s when th...
