Introduction
In the world today, our lives have increasingly become so much immersed in the
internet and technology. Much of our communication today is done online. A significant
portion of our leisure as well as entertainment activities is offered through the internet and
video games. Most of us here today and the world over often find our smart phones as one of
the single most important aspect of our connectivity and day-to-day organization (Araya,
Breindl and Houghton, 2011). With these numerous changes in our daily lifestyles, a lot of
questions are arising as to what technology and the internet may be doing to us. More
particularly, the concern is that excessive use of internet and modern technologies, including
smart phones and social media is greatly hindering our creativity.
Modern technology and internet have undeniably played a very big role in changing
the quality of our lives, skills as well as much of our creativity today. Much of our creativity
has changed as a result of the prolonged exposures to many of the modern technologies and
internet. For instance, reading for pleasure has greatly decreased among many of the young
people since the advent of the internet and modern technologies. Moreover, studies have
shown that our thinking capacities and imaginations have declined significantly because now,
more than ever, many of us have turned to these technologies. We have relegated creativity,
innovation and thinking was traditional the role of human brain to computer intelligence. The
impact of relegating and delegating the innate thinking capability and drive by humans to
computers and other forms of technologies is far-reaching. Human beings are increasingly
using more virtual information and ‘living’ in virtual communities far removed from the
realities of life. As a result, we are increasingly using our cognitive skills less often while
replacing traditional face-to-face communication and formation of real world social relations
with our virtual communities.

been created on the human mind is far-reaching, as we are increasing using more visual

Main Body
A growing body of literature argue that the emergency of the internet and related
technologies are making it even harder for us in order to concentrate and think on even the
smallest of the tasks. A recent survey in the United States found that internet had a 77
percent positive impact on students’ research work, but 87 percent felt that modern
technologies and the internet were creating a distracted generation with shorter attention
spans as well as lower levels of creativity.
In fact, while many of the young people are indisputably capable of long spans of
concentration, many of the young people who spend a lot of time alone using the internet as
well as modern tech...
