When 108 g of water at a temperature of 22.5 oC is mixed with 65.1 g of water at an unknown temperature results in a final temperature of the mixture of 47.9 oC. What was the temperature of the second sample of water

Oct 20th, 2014

Let t be the temperature.

Since water is involved , the specific heat of water included on both sides will get cancelled and hence

108(47.9-22.5) = 65.1(t-47.9)

t-47.9 =108*25.4/65.1=42.1

t =47.9+42.1= 90

Answer: 90 degrees.
