Question one
The first idea we can glean from the conversation in the video is the quote by Maya Angelou,
which states, “you are only free when you belong at no place, you belong every place, and no
place at all; the price is high, and the reward is great” (Forleo, 2017). The statement can be
applied in conflict situations when one regards he is free when he does not engage in conflicts
with people. Another idea is the issue of trust that is helpful when engaging potential conflicts.
For example, one can call an employee to his office and inform him of having trust issues. Such
statements set the record straight and inform the employee he has to change his ways to avoid
potential conflicts. The acronym “BRAVING” provides the second idea. Here, B stands for
boundaries that distinguish between the affairs of two individuals, R stands for reliability where
one says what he does and does what he said, A stands for accountability, V for a vault, I for
integrity, N for non-judgment, and G-for generosity (Forleo, 2017). The explanations of the
acronyms are crucial when engaging in potential conflicts.
