As a school counselor, the Bible is very relevant to how I will counsel the students that I will come in contact with. I will be using God’s word as the light for my path as well as informing and showing the students that He is a light to their path. The Bible is there to guide us so that we can understand the reality (Graham, 2003). The Bible also helps us to deal with and explore the reality that he is teaching us about. The Bible is there to help us deal with all facets of our life. In school counseling, I will be able to integrate the Bible into counseling sessions without mentioning the Bible, especially if it is a secular school. Showing the children they are loved and allowing them to have a voice and be understood is how God wants us to teach His children. Also, being a good steward of God, which is to teach the children the way they should go is why God created teachers, counselors, etc. Being a good steward of God means that we are functioning according to his guidance, which comes from the Bible, hence the relevance this will have on being a school counselor.
