Description

Note: This is part three of a four-part implementation plan that will be combined to form the finalized plan in Week Four. It is expected that adjustments will be made in the final version based on the feedback provided in Weeks One through Three.

Using the paper developed in Weeks One and Two, add an additional 3 to 4 pages (1,050 to 1,400 words) describing your user acceptance testing plans for ensuring the Business Enterprise Software performs at an acceptable level. Include the following:

  • Develop a data conversion plan that describes the process of migrating existing data to the testing platform.
  • Describe the test environment, including hardware requirements and the personnel who will participate in user acceptance testing.
  • Explain the methods and procedures that will be used to conduct the testing, such as performance testing, load testing, and/or regression testing.

Incorporate feedback from your previous assignments.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Update your Microsoft® Project plan to include the tasks associated with this week's assignment

part 2 will be sent to you for better understanding

Once all the stakeholders with the project have been identifies and their roles established,
it imperative to come up with appropriate means of migrating the data from existing hardware to
the new systems. To ensure the business enterprise software performs as scheduled, it is
important to evaluate the user acceptance level as well as evaluating the efficiency of the project.
Data Conversion plan
Data conversion basically refers to the process through which data from its original
sources are migrated through a medium to a new hardware. The process of conversion involves
extracting data from its original source, transforming this data and then loading this data to anew
source. This requires high level of expertise and this is the most critical part of system
implementation as the project manager must ensure that there is required expertise to help in the
data conversion process. It is a very complex and time consuming exercise that requires
dedication of the organizational resources and time. Since data is the most crucial asset of the
company, its conversion to a new system must be evaluated with a lot of care and precaution lest
you lose all the company important data.
The data conversion process for Brewton Business Scenario Project will entail a series of
process that are essential and critical in migrating data from its original source to the new
hardware for storage. The data conversion process for the project will involve three major steps
with other sub-process integrated within the three major steps. The three major steps for the data
conversion will involve data extraction, data transformation and data loading as shown in the fig
below.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

3

Extraction will involve extracting the data from its original source; transformation will
involve mapping the data into the target hard for storage while loading of the data will basically
entail loading the data into the target hardware for storage. This process is critical as it require
the project manager to thoroughly consolidate company resources in the data conversion process.
The tools that will be used in the conversion process will include

ETL tool

Data modeling tool

Address validation tool

Mainframe data extraction tool

Data profiling tool

Conversion Approach
The conversion approach takes into account the strategies which will be used to extract
data from the original source through testing and final migration into new storage hardware. The
approach utilized in this case focuses on ensuring data quality through analyzing the current
environment as well provides appropriate source-to-target data mapping specification to be used

in this case. The project manager in this case, plans how the staging area for the data conversion
is modeled and how the data quality will be examined.
This data conversion plan therefore has a main goal of ensuring that the critical data of
the organization within the project is migrated from the legacy system to the target system more
efficiently and with minimal difficulty. Since data is a crucial asset, the project manager will
ensure that every step outlined within this conversion plan is properly followed and at the same
time ensuring that relevant expertise and support team are available to ensure smooth migration.
Intended audience
The intended audience of this data conversion plan basically is the key data stakeholders,
data conversion project team, as well as project leaders who oversee through the data conversion
process form initiation through completion.
Data Testing Environment
The data test environment will entail evaluation of the data to ascertain whether the data
meets the standard requirements as established in the data conversion objective guide book. In
this case, the project manager must ensure that the data migrated to the new hardware meets the
needs reconcile with the data needs requirement objective. The testing environment will entail
validation of data quality through data quality strategy which must be capable of confirming that
the migrated data is within the acceptable standards and rules.
The test environment on the same note will encompass two aspect of data conversion
testing including functionality testing in which the data will be verified if they actually support
the functionality of the project target application system. On the same note the test environment
will involve non-functionality testing which will enable confirmation whether all the data

migrated in scope have successfully been migrated to the new system and it will test the accuracy
of the data and completeness of the data in accordance with the established project data
conversion criteria.
The test environment will entail testing of the migrated data in the following contexts

Conversion unit testing

Data usability testing

Mock conversion testing

Data validation and reconciliation

Hardware Requirement and personnel
The hardware that will be required to support the target storage system for the conversion
will basically be required to conform to the current data conversion established objective. It must
be able to support the current system requirement as per the need of the project and the
underlying company or the organization in question. The data test environment similarly will
require a hardware that is able to support the current system needs and be able to evaluate
whether the data migrated to the new storage system or target system meets the required
standards.
The personnel who will participate in the user acceptance generally will encompass the
project team, project manager and the relevant stakeholders within the project with the right
expertise on data validation and data conversion. It is imperative to note that stakeholders and
personnel with the right skills are necessary in the user acceptance since they have the right
expertise to solve any emerging user difficulties with the use of the current or migrated system.

Methods for conducting testing
Within the conversion process, there are several methods that will be used to conduct
necessary testing including new system performance testing, regression testing and load testing
within the new system. To ensure that the migrated data and the new system is efficient and
meets the required standards, it is important to conduct two important tests that can help
ascertain the effectiveness and the reliability of the converted data. The two most important
methods will be the system tests and validation acceptance commonly known as UAT and
Independent data validation.
