one dividend in my fact family is 18. one of my divisors is twice one of my quotients. what three number

Oct 18th, 2017

Let quotient be x.

Then the divisor is 2*x.

And condition gives equation

18/2x = x.

Multiplying both sides by x we get

18/2 = x^2  or  x^2 = 9

This gives two solutions: x=3 and x=-3

THe corresponding divisors are 6 and -6.

Hence, we get two triples of numbers

18/6 = 3

And

18/(-6) = -3
