Abstract
Topic
I will discuss video games and whether they pose any danger to the players. The fact that
the issue has been so contentious made me decide to do some more research and express my
thoughts and opinions from my findings.
Thesis
People indeed tend to confuse imitations of acts in video games with the games directly
impacting the behavior. Equally, there is a lack of empirical evidence to show that violent games
have a negative effect on players. Therefore, violent video games are not dangerous to the
players whatsoever.
An Analysis of the argument
Imitating acts seen courtesy of video games does not necessarily mean a negative effect
on the player, which is why it is important to draw a line to differentiate the two. Also, the lack
of stand-alone experiments that show a direct link between video games and negative effects
shows that video games are not as dangerous as perceived.
Counter- argument
A combined approach to violent games shows that a violent game can lead to aggressive
behavior. However, aggressive behaviors are not necessarily negative; they are helpful in a
positive way. There is a need for a single experiment showing a direct relationship between
violent video games and negative effects.

Are Video Games Dangerous?
It is essential to point out that video games have become very popular among kids in the
technology era. Among the many video games available, some of them are characterized by
violent aspects, which some people argue have detrimental effects on the part of the children
playing them in the end. While some people feel violent video games are to blame for negative
effects on children and young adults, there is a lack of evidence connecting children's and young
adults' behavior with violent video games.
Firstly, most of the field experiments carried out are not ideal when it comes to
establishing whether video games contribute to violent behavior and other negative effects on the
part of the players. For instance, measuring aggression on the basis of direct imitation of game
behaviors such as karate kicks is not a correct experiment in terms of establishing the negative
effects of video games (Ferguson and John 1439-1451). Essentially, many kids tend to imitate
what they often watch, which explains why kids who play violent video games tend to express
those behaviors. Indeed, imitation is something kids to exhibit at an early age, and the case for
video games is not an exception. Hence, people researching on the topic should not see
intimation by players as an effect on the player.
Secondly, several studies have shown that there are insignificant effects of video games
on players, particularly kids. Essentially, this can be compared to the experiment results testing
the link between ...
