what is an division rule for square roots

Oct 24th, 2014

I'm not sure what rule in particular you are looking for but I'll provide an example of how it works.

Step 1: put both square roots under one square root symbol.

So if the question is  SQRT2/SQRT1 it becomes SQRT2/1

Step 2: Divide. Don't actually calculate the square roots, just divide the numbers given. (i.e. 2/1 = 2)

Step 3: Simplify -- in the example I've given you cannot simplify further thus the answer is SQRT 2
