discusses it in his article "Arguers as Lovers." First off, what is groupthink? Groupthink is a
phenomenon in which people make decisions that may not be the wisest or the best out of a
desire to conform with other people. This mindset and way of living discourages people from
thinking outside of the box or assuming responsibility for their lives and actions. While I
understand from my own experiences that acting in conformity with others does tend to give us a
sense of comfort, semi-certainty, and belonging, it can have negative consequences. Groupthink
leads people to make irrational or unethical decisions or ignore others' or their own needs and
desires, resulting in harmful, sometimes devastating effects.
