located in Seeb, 32 kilometers from the ancient city and the capital Muscat. The airport serves as the
central hub for Oman Air carriers. Oman’s first budget included Salam Air, which makes flights to various
regions within the country and has also grown to make flights across continents like Asia, Africa, and
Europe. The airport developed from a small airfield located in Bayt Al Falaj as Seeb International Airport
in 1973. The airport has hosted major aircraft like the Royal Airforce during the Gulf war in 1991. This
was during the magic roundabout exercise where the navy cooperated with the Royal Navy of Oman. It
also hosted VC10 tanks from the 101 squadrons during the Gulf war training and the Royal Airforce
Jaguars. The airport’s name was changed from Seeb international to Muscat International Airport on 1st
February 2008. Like most organizations, the Muscat airport is run by the Oman Airport Management.
