A projectile follows a parabolic path whose height, in meters, is given by the function f(x) = -x^2 + 2x +2. Find the maximum horizontal distance that the projectile may cover.

f(x) = - x^2 + 2x + 2 

Maximum horizontal distance, where if mapped onto a graph, y-coordinate is 0. 

- x^2 + 2x + 2 = 0 

x^2 - 2x - 2 = 0 

(x - 1)^2 - 2 - (-1)^2 = 0 

(x - 1)^2 - 3 = 0 

(x - 1)^2 = 3 

x - 1 = ±√3 

x = 1 ±√3 

Maximum horizontal distance is: 1 + √3 = 2.732050808 = 2.73 meters
