Project Report
Submit your assignments in D2L Dropbox by the due date as specified in the course schedule.

Your submissions include three files as listed below (note that partial submission is not
acceptable and if any of the requested files are missing from the group submissions, they will
receive zero):
1. Proposal Report (upload the Word or PDF file in D2L Dropbox)
2. Network Diagram (create a yellow sticky network diagram including the arrows that connect
the activities and take a picture. You must upload the picture in D2L Dropbox)
3. Microsoft Project File (your original MS Project file must be uploaded in D2L Dropbox)
You must upload the original Microsoft Project file for development of the project schedule and
budget, in addition to a “Microsoft Word file for your proposal report” and the picture of the
“network diagram for your proposal”. Note that the Microsoft Project File should include the
following:
- List of all the tasks in the project (ensure all the tasks are on automatic)
- Project start date
- Duration for all the tasks
- Precedence for all the tasks (you should create a network diagram to identify precedence for
each task). As stated above, you must go through a “Yellow Sticky Exercise” with your

MGMT2102 – FINAL PROJECT
Below is the list of the required sections in your proposal report:
1. Executive Summary (5 marks)
Provide an executive summary (overview) of the proposed project. Ensure a standard and
transparent format for review by the sponsor and other executives. This document should be
kept at a reasonable level of detail.
This is an executive summary that describe how this project came about, who is involved, and
the purpose of the project.].
2. Project Background (5 marks)
Background information enables all parties to have a shared understanding of the proposed project
and allows effective prioritization against other initiatives based on the strategic direction of the
company’s overall strategy.
3. Project Scope (15 marks)
Describe how the objectives of the project will be achieved. It may be that the proposed project is
part of a larger undertaking. If this is the case, then this section should describe how the proposed
project fits into the broader undertaking and related projects that are planned for the future.
Project scope defines the boundaries of a project. Think of the scope as an imaginary box that will
enclose all the project elements/activities. It not only defines what you are doing (what goes into
the box), but it sets limits for what will not be done as part of the project (what doesn’t fit in the
box). Scope answers questions including what will be done, what won’t be done, and what the
result will look like.
The proposed scope should define the high-level boundaries of the project. If approved, the project
team will be able to further define and plan the project and develop the Project Charter and other
Phases deliverables.
Identify what is NOT included in project scope.
4. High-Level Requirements (5 marks)
Describe the high-level requirements for the project. In other words, high level requirement means
describing the high-level required functionalities for the project. For example, a few examples of the
high level requirements for an IT project could be:

5. Deliverables (15 marks)

that is intended to be delivered to a customer. A deliverable could be a report, a document, a
software product, a server upgrade or any other building block of an overall project.
6. Affected Parties (5 marks)
List stakeholders which will impact or will be impacted by the project.
7. Risk Identification and Response (15 marks)
Identify the risks in your project and rank each risk (High, Medium, Low) based on the
probability and impact.
Identify the risk response plan and the contingency plan for each risk item that is ranked
High or Medium.
8. Implementation Plan (5 marks)
Describe how you plan to implement the project (i.e., how do you operationalize your plan?). For
example, will all parts of the project be rolled out at once or will it be executed in phases? What
will be included in each phase?
9. Schedule and Budget (30 marks)
Use Microsoft Project Software and develop project schedule and baseline budget (upload your
original Microsoft Project file for the project schedule and project budget in D2L Final Project
folder in addition to the Microsoft Word file for your proposal).
Project Schedule: In Microsoft Project Software, you must include project work breakdown
structure, start and stop date for project activities, Gantt Chart, and the critical path for the
project.
Project Budget: In Microsoft Project Software, you must resource load the schedule and
identify the total cost for the project.
You must clarify if the project is time constrained or resource constrained.
Check Microsoft Project to identify if any resource is over allocated.
If the project is time constrained, you must level the project within slack.

6
MGMT2102 – FINAL PROJECT
If the project is resource constrained, you must level the project within slack first, and then if
over allocation is not resolved yet, you must level outside the slack.
In your Microsoft Word proposal report, describe how you have conducted resource allocation
(time constrained or resource constrained project, leveling within slack, or leveling outside the
slack) and identify the impact of your approach on the critical path and the project end date.

Any concern about the group member(s) participation, engagement, and quality of work must
be addressed immediately internally by referring to the project charter. If the internal
discussion did not result in improvement, the concern MUST be immediately escalated to the
instructor in writing (via D2L email). Note that it is important for the group members to keep
evidence of delinquency to present if they need to escalate their concerns to the instructor.
Keep in mind that working in groups may require exercising your project management skills.
You understand that every temporary group will go through forming, storming, norming,
until they get to performing. Your group charter is a tool that can help you to expedite this
process by holding the group member accountable to their roles and clarifying the
consequences of not performing as the group has agreed in the group charter.
In addition to the group charter, as project managers you know that it is important to use
your soft skills to create rapport with your other group members. As such, all groups MUST
set of a virtual MS Teams meeting as a “kick off” meeting and post the recoding in the chat
board (note that you MUST include the instructor in the kick off meeting invitation so that the
instructor can access the recording of your kick off meeting).

MGMT2102 – FINAL PROJECT
All groups MUST have at least 2 more MS Teams meeting in the chat board to ensure
alignment. The meetings MUST be recorded and instructor must be included in the list of
invitees so that the instructor could have access to ALL group meetings recording.
Academic Honesty
Ensure you are aware of the College Policies on Academic Honesty and also Plagiarism. Academic
dishonesty and plagiarism are taken very seriously at the College even if the dishonesty or
plagiarism is unintentional. Please also know that taking credit for work you did not contribute to as
it is also considered Academic Dishonesty and will be reported.
Ensure you have read the Chiu School of Business Learner Handbook for more information about
the Academic Honesty Policy. If you have any questions, contact your instructor.
Turnitin
This assignment will be submitted to Turnitin. Turnitin is a web-based service that checks the
assignment against its database of materials that contain other learner's work as well as electronic
academic materials.
Learners find the Turnitin report useful for editing papers. The report will include incorrect use of
referencing, too many quotes, and paraphrases. If the Turnitin report, for your first draft, shows a
high percentage of matching text, this will give you an opportunity to review and edit your
assignment for proper citations and more original analysis. Once you make your edits, it is possible
to submit your work to Turnitin again. Turnitin will know not to match the text in your second draft
with text in your first draft, and so on. It is advisable to wait at least 24 hours before you submit the
second draft.
Faculty find Turnitin useful as a tool to teach learners proper citation practices and highlight the
need for more learner originality. Faculty can also use Turnitin as a tool to detect possible instances
of plagiarism and academic dishonesty.
Academic dishonesty can lead to a zero for this. Ensure you have read the Chiu School of Business
Learner Handbook for more information about the Academic Honesty Policy. If you have any
questions, contact your instructor.
