Description
Mill famously argued that the ethical action is what leads to the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people. Please write an essay about Mill's utilitarian ethical theory that answers the following questions:
- Does utilitarian theory require us to--somehow--have certain knowledge about the future? Can we identify which actions will cause the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people without having certain knowledge of the future?
- Can a utilitarian consistently reject as immoral the enslavement of a small group of people whose enslavement brings great happiness to a much larger group of people?
- Do either of these two problems (the 'knowing the future' problem and the 'justification of slavery' problem) mean that utilitarianism is an unsatisfactory ethical theory? Why or why not?
Please ensure that your essay addresses each component of the assigned questions and that your answer is well-organized, uses excellent, college-level prose, and makes judicious use of textual evidence. Your essay should be 600-900 words long.

Brookdale Community College History of Women and Slavery Essay
Compare early life in Massachusetts Bay with that of the Chesapeake region, considering ALL of the differences and similarities we have studied and read about. Include women, and use the Readings in American History selections besides the text. Where do you see the most freedoms? Where do you see the most solidarity? What can you identify as the beginnings of an American culture?Slavery: Discuss the nature of the infamous middle passage, the genesis of slavery (connection to delivered indentured servitude, labor needs, laws, codes and practices that helped to develop it, social causes); and then discuss specific examples of it using ONLY the text, the reader, and other items from the class. Be sure to discuss the middle passage as only a brief, initial part of your answer.Discuss how both Jamestown's "variant values" (as outlined in the Breen essay) and the rationales of Bacon's Rebellion can we seen as "seeds of our American culture, and ultimately, our movement for independence. (Materials from reading ONLY !)The ideological principles of the American Revolution were clearly identified in the reading. How seriously did American's take them? Did different groups seem them differently? For example, what is the difference between Federalists and Anti-Federalists? How did this get played out in the early formation of the American government? Which side would you take in some of these debates? Make sure that your answer is about more than just the Federalist vs. Anti - Federalist debate. Each of these four questions needs tone answered with a detailed explanation. A paragraph or more would do.

FIL 2000 Rasmussen College Film Appreciation Discussion
Now that you have chosen a director and written your thesis statements, it’s
time to search for evidence to support your thesis. Though most of your
evidence will come from examples from the director’s movies, you will
also need to research literary criticism or reviews/critiques from
credible sources about the director, their films, and career. For this assignment, you will list sources you plan to cite for your final paper.Provide 3 to 6 films by the director that support your thesis. Write
a 100 to125-word paragraph on how each film will support your topic and
provide evidence for your thesis. Keep in mind that you’re not
retelling the films’ plots, rather you are citing examples through
shots, scenes, and clips that support your overall thesis and topic.Provide a minimum of 3 articles of criticism that support your
thesis and topic. Articles of criticism are any evaluation, analysis,
description, or interpretation of the films. (You can look for these
articles in the Rasmussen Online Library; however, there are also links
to databases in the Additional Materials section to help with your
search.) Write a 100 to 125-word paragraph on how these articles will
support your thesis and topic.Steps to cite a film:Start with the title in italics followed by a period. After the movie title, add the words “Directed by” followed by the director’s name and a comma.List the production company, studio, or distributor followed by a comma.Write the year the movie was released followed by a period. Finally, complete the citation with the medium of the movie, which
is generally “Film.” Though in some cases, it may be DVD, Streaming, or
other formats of distribution. Add a period at the end.Your citation should look like this:Black Panther. Directed by Ryan Kyle Coogler, Marvel Studios, 2018. Film.

HIS UCF Module 6 Use of Camera in the Spiderman Film Discussion
For this discussion, you are to simply choose any film you want and take a look at how the camera is used as a formal tool to construct the film. Investigate the role of the cinematography in your chosen film, as well as its access and significance in the overall meaning of the film. There are two components for this discussion:1.) Please provide a MINIMUM 150-word explanation of your findings in the discussion board.2.) Also do a MINIMUM 50-word response to another student about the film they chose. Between the two posts, you will be posting a MINIMUM total of 200 words for the week. However, be aware that you must meet the MINIMUM for each post. DO NOT submit a post that is under the word count and then attempt to make up the difference in the other post (e.g. 125 words on the first post and then 75 words in the reply to a peer). Please include an accurate word count with each post or points will be deducted. As always, spelling, grammar (including italicizing film titles), and quality of content are also important.
